Jinan-gun Selected for 'Local Food Regional Certification Support' Public Project

Next Year’s 'Food Plan' Operation Safety and Quality Support Promotion

Jinan-gun, Jeonbuk Province announced on the 22nd that it has secured 100 million won in project funds after being selected for the "2024 Food Plan Operation Safety and Quality Support Project" organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

This public contest project prioritizes support for cities and counties selected in the Food Plan Package contest held in early April. It was promoted to support the establishment of a local food regional certification system, ensuring safety and quality, securing consumer trust, and building a stable circulation system for local food.

Following the selection for the contest project, the county will carry out various projects for safe food certification, including ▲establishing a local agricultural product safety certification system service ▲operating an agricultural product safety consumer certification review committee and monitoring group ▲education, promotion, and workshops on the agricultural product certification system ▲production of packaging materials for its own certification brand.

The county will deeply communicate with local food farmers to establish a local agricultural product safety certification system and conduct case studies of advanced cities and counties. By enacting related local ordinances and establishing and implementing a local food self-certification system suited to the county's circumstances, the project will be completed.

Jeon Hyun-hee, Director of the Agriculture, Livestock and Distribution Division, stated, "We will do our best to present objective quality standards for Jinan local food, provide step-by-step certification, and ensure the basic right to food and enhance consumer trust."
