According to the joint statement released by Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 22nd, the G7 foreign ministers "strongly condemn the launch using North Korea's ballistic missile technology" and pointed out that "it poses a serious threat to peace and stability both within and beyond the region."
They also stated, "Even if it is a military reconnaissance satellite, a launch using ballistic missile technology is a clear violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions."
They further expressed "renewed condemnation of North Korea's transfer of weapons to Russia" and added, "We are deeply concerned about the possible transfer of nuclear and ballistic missile-related technologies to North Korea."
Finally, the G7 foreign ministers "once again demand the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula" and urged North Korea to abandon its nuclear weapons, other weapons of mass destruction, and ballistic missile programs.
