"Words and Actions That Could Lose the Female Votes That Held the Center in the Presidential Election"

Writer Jin Joong-kwon commented on former Democratic Party lawmaker Choi Kang-wook's remark that "the Yoon Seok-yeol government is run by females causing trouble," saying, "Is it because the party has a representative who used obscene language toward his sister-in-law?"

On the evening of the 21st, Jin said on CBS Radio's 'Park Jae-hong's One-on-One Match,' "Recently, the mouths of Democratic Party lawmakers have become very coarse," pointing out, "They hurled abusive language such as 'that guy' and 'son of a...' at cabinet members, and eventually even used the term 'female' in a derogatory way."

Earlier, on the 19th, former lawmaker Choi harshly criticized the Yoon Seok-yeol government at the book launch event for Democratic Party lawmaker Min Hyung-bae's book 'The Politics of Leaving the Party' held at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology in Buk-gu, Gwangju, using the expression "females have come out causing trouble."

He said, "Even in Orwell's novel 'Animal Farm,' it's rare to see females causing such a ruckus," adding, "I am not disparaging females; calling those causing trouble 'females' is just calling them by that term."

In response, Jin said, "Where has the Democratic Party of Kim Dae-jung and Roh Moo-hyun gone? Only a group of lawmakers who use abusive language and 'Gaeddal' (a term for violent female supporters) who resort to violence remain," lamenting, "As someone said, it seems the party has become one that is hard to fix. How did it come to this?"

He also criticized, saying, "I wonder if this person (former lawmaker Choi) has lost his mind," adding, "Saying things like this makes it impossible to have smooth social interactions."

He then brought up the issue of the party banner phrase that was criticized as 'youth disparagement.' Jin pointed out, "The banner phrase 'I don't know politics, but I want to live well; I don't know economics, but I want to have a lot of money' means they don't understand people in their 20s and 30s, and although the Democratic Party was once young, now they are old, and this is what old people say when they blame the young."

Jin said, "Even during the presidential election, whose votes balanced out the 20s and 30s? It was women's votes," adding, "But if they go so far as to call them 'females,' they are saying they will lose even those votes. I don't know how they plan to run an election like this," criticizing.

Regarding this, Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung stated on Facebook that day, "I would like to say that inappropriate language and behavior as public servants will be dealt with strictly without leniency."

The Democratic Party has issued an emergency disciplinary action of 'six months suspension of party membership' against former lawmaker Choi.

Generally, disciplinary decisions for party members who commit such acts are first judged by the party's Ethics Tribunal. However, in the case of former lawmaker Choi, the party leadership judged it as a "serious and significant disciplinary matter during an extraordinary time" and appears to have expedited the disciplinary decision through the Supreme Council's resolution.
