Improvement of Youth Harmful Environments Around Schools and Busy Districts by December 8
On the 16th, Gumi City in Gyeongbuk conducted a joint inspection targeting youth-harmful establishments in the Wonpyeong-dong area on the day of the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), prohibiting the sale of harmful substances to youth (such as alcohol and cigarettes) and banning youth entry and employment.
More than 20 personnel from the police station, YMCA Youth Harmful Environment Monitoring Group, and others formed three teams to visit convenience stores, karaoke rooms, entertainment establishments, bars, and restaurants located in youth-harmful establishment dense areas around Gumi Station and Munhwa-ro. They inspected for violations related to the Youth Protection Act and distributed promotional materials.
In particular, preventive activities were carried out to protect youth from harmful environments by addressing delinquent behaviors such as youth visiting harmful establishments, drinking, smoking, and cohabiting with the opposite sex in entertainment districts after the CSAT, when students are relieved from tension.
The city plans to focus on improving the youth harmful environment around schools and entertainment districts until December 8, led by youth guidance committee members affiliated with the town and township offices, and will continue efforts to create a wholesome environment for youth through the end of the year.
