GPTW stands for 'Great Place To Work,' and it is also the name of a consulting organization that surveys and selects the best workplaces both domestically and internationally.
At the conference held on the 15th at the FKI Tower in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, Daewoong Pharmaceutical shared its corporate culture and HR know-how in the form of best practice cases with domestic companies. The presentation, titled 'Implementing a Great Place to Work and Talent Recruitment Strategy,' was conducted by Ham Boreum, Head of HR Planning at Daewoong Pharmaceutical. Ham emphasized that the core of Daewoong Pharmaceutical’s corporate culture is building an environment where employees can immerse themselves in work autonomously and prioritizing employee growth.
Since 2019, Daewoong Pharmaceutical has been recognized by GPTW with awards such as the Best Workplace in Korea, Trust Management Award, Best Workplace in Asia, Best Workplace for Working Moms, and Best Workplace for Millennials. Last year, it was also selected as a Family-Friendly Top Company by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.
To uphold the core corporate value of 'autonomy,' Daewoong Pharmaceutical operates a smart work system that allows employees to work without restrictions on time and place. A smart office system has been introduced across all workspaces, including headquarters, factories, research centers, and overseas branches, enabling employees to autonomously choose appropriate workspaces according to their work objectives and situations.
Additionally, the company has pioneered and established a flexible working hours system, allowing employees to set their own working hours autonomously. It is also preparing a Workation system through a 'coworking space' in Bali, Indonesia. Furthermore, the company operates a 'Long-term Refresh Leave' system that grants employees one month of paid leave every five years of service and supports up to 1 million KRW for self-development expenses, without requiring employees to disclose reasons for taking leave.
For the other core value, 'growth,' Daewoong Pharmaceutical has internalized systems such as developmental feedback, job-based pay, and the Career Development Program (CDP). The 'developmental feedback,' conducted at least once a month by all executives and employees, helps employees grow through work by discussing strategies and methods to achieve goals. The job-based pay system provides equal opportunities regardless of age, years of service, or gender, and rewards are given rationally based solely on competence and performance. For employees who wish to focus on personal growth and career advancement in various fields, the CDP system allows them to plan and work in different departments to build expertise.
Lee Chang-jae, CEO of Daewoong Pharmaceutical, said, "It is meaningful that Daewoong Pharmaceutical has once again been recognized externally as a great and well-performing company through this best practice presentation. We will further activate related systems so that Daewoong Pharmaceutical’s corporate culture can be benchmarked by domestic and international companies and establish itself as a 'great place to work and a well-performing company.'"
