Gyeonggi Province is expanding open recruitment to bring in competent experts for key positions.
Gyeonggi Province has decided to select the director of the Gyeonggi-do Institute of Health and Environment through open recruitment, a position that had previously been filled internally. Additionally, the positions of Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs, a Grade 1 local manager, and the head of the Gyeonggi Free Economic Zone Authority have also been converted to open recruitment. Furthermore, to enhance expertise in disability-related projects, all seven mid-level Grade 7 positions will be filled by persons with disabilities.
According to Gyeonggi Province on the 21st, applications for the director of the Gyeonggi-do Institute of Health and Environment will be accepted for five days from November 27 to December 1. Eligibility requires current employment as a general service public official at Grade 3 or 4 (with more than 3 years of service), or as a research officer (with more than 7 years of service). Candidates with certain experience or achievements in the health and environment fields are eligible to apply.
The selection process consists of a first round of document screening and a second round of interviews. The director of the Gyeonggi-do Institute of Health and Environment oversees the institute’s affairs related to testing and research aimed at ▲strengthening food and drug safety ▲establishing diagnostic systems for new and legally designated infectious diseases ▲enhancing safety management of agricultural and marine products ▲creating clean air and a safe environment ▲and establishing a clean and healthy water environment.
Gyeonggi Province has especially converted this appointment examination to an open interview format so that public officials and residents of Gyeonggi Province can observe. Those wishing to attend must apply by December 1, providing their affiliation, name, and contact information.
Gyeonggi Province is also conducting open recruitment for open positions such as Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs and the head of the Gyeonggi Free Economic Zone Authority. This is the first time the Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs position is being publicly recruited. The province explained that the Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs was newly designated as an open position to strengthen expertise and develop effective economic policies amid the global economic crisis characterized by high inflation, high interest rates, and high exchange rates.
The Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs assists the Governor and is responsible for overseeing and coordinating Gyeonggi Province’s economic policies. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in macroeconomics, policy planning and coordination, international cooperation, and financial management.
The head of the Gyeonggi Free Economic Zone Authority oversees the affairs of the economic free zone authority and is eligible to apply if they have work or research experience related to fostering and supporting new industries and enterprises, as well as attracting foreign investment.
Applications will be accepted from the 20th to the 24th of this month. The appointment examination will include a first round of document screening and a second round of interviews to assess qualifications and job performance capabilities. The expected appointment period is around December this year.
To promote employment of persons with disabilities and secure experts in specialized and special fields, Gyeonggi Province will hire all seven Grade 7 fixed-term public officials in seven positions as persons with disabilities. This measure aims to discover and recruit talented persons with disabilities in specialized and special fields where written exams have low discriminative power, and to further expand public office opportunities for persons with disabilities.
The recruitment fields and grades include ▲Disability Job Operation Staff (General Fixed-term Administrative Grade 7) ▲Contract Work Support Staff (General Fixed-term Administrative Grade 7) ▲Labor Counseling and Rights Protection Specialist (Time-Selected Fixed-term Grade Na) ▲Media Promotion Content Planning and Production Staff (Time-Selected Fixed-term Grade Da) ▲Public Defender Support Staff (Time-Selected Fixed-term Grade Da) ▲Nonprofit Corporation and Nonprofit Private Organization Specialist (Time-Selected Fixed-term Grade Da) ▲Onnuri Center Facility Management Staff (Time-Selected Fixed-term Grade Ra).
Applications will be accepted from the 29th of this month to the 1st of next month.
Kang Hyun-seok, head of the personnel department, explained the background, saying, "As residents’ awareness and interest in climate environment and infectious diseases have greatly increased through experiences with fine dust and COVID-19, policy demands have also risen, leading to the open recruitment of health and environment experts through a public competition."
He added, "We are also promoting open recruitment for high-level positions such as Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs to hire competent talents with professional knowledge and experience. The newly introduced mid-level recruitment in the disability project field is expected to bring a fresh breeze to the public service community."
