SK Geocentric announced on the 20th that it will participate in the 'Korea Eco-friendly Packaging Forum' held for two days until the 21st at the Walkerhill Hotel in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, to discuss sustainable packaging for a circular economy with stakeholders from the public, private, and academic sectors.

The Eco-friendly Packaging Forum was first held in 2019 and has developed into a collaborative platform where various stakeholders share awareness of the negative environmental effects of waste plastics such as packaging materials and discuss solutions together.

This year's forum is held under the themes of new resource circulation activities to end plastic pollution and sustainable packaging for a circular economy.

On the first day of the forum, SK Geocentric will host the session titled 'Preparing for the Post-Plastic Era.' It will introduce the Ulsan ARC, a plastic recycling cluster currently under construction, and a waste plastic traceability management system using blockchain technology.

Na Kyung-soo, President of SK Geocentric, said, "It is meaningful that stakeholders from various fields gather in one place to consider solutions to the waste plastic problem," adding, "We will continuously contribute to solving the plastic problem through the 'Infinite Resource' business model that turns waste plastics into new resources."

The Ulsan ARC integrates three major chemical recycling technologies?pyrolysis, high-purity polypropylene (PP) extraction, and PET depolymerization?and is expected to process 320,000 tons of waste plastics annually once commercial production begins in 2026.

Many domestic and international companies will also make presentations at the forum. Global packaging company Amcor will introduce cases and strategies for sustainable eco-friendly packaging. Woowa Brothers, operator of Baedal Minjok, will present efforts to foster an eco-friendly delivery culture, and Hyundai Motor Company will share trends in developing recycled materials for automobiles.
