Nam Hyun-hee and Gong Hyo-seok Accused as 'Accomplices'
Jeon Cheong-jo (27), who was known as the remarriage partner of former national fencing athlete Nam Hyun-hee and was arrested on fraud charges, has been sued by a woman whom he called "mom" for embezzling more than 300 million won from her.
Nam and her ex-husband, former national cycling athlete Gong Hyo-seok (37), were also sued together after evidence was found that money flowed from Jeon's account to their accounts.
On the 17th, Kim Min-seok, a member of the Seoul Gangseo District Council, told Yonhap News Agency, "Victim A filed a fraud complaint today at the Seoul Songpa Police Station against Jeon, Nam, and Gong."

According to Councilor Kim, Jeon approached A in March last year saying, "Please become my mother," and then embezzled about 370 million won under the pretexts of paying security guards' wages and car accident settlement costs.
Additionally, there is evidence that Jeon received large sums from A into a nominee account, and money flowed from that account to the accounts of Nam and Gong, prompting Kim to argue that their complicity should be investigated.
Earlier, on the 15th, Councilor Kim reported Nam to the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, stating, "Nam, while serving as a director of the Korea Sports Council, received expensive luxury goods from Jeon, which may violate the Public Officials Ethics Act and the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act." The Korea Sports Council is a public institution, and its executives and employees are considered "public officials, etc." subject to the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act.
Nam had served as a director of the Sports Council since April 2021 and voluntarily resigned on the 15th.
Meanwhile, Jeon, who was revealed to be involved in an investment fraud worth tens of billions of won, was arrested on the 10th on charges of fraud under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes and transferred to the prosecution. The police are also investigating whether Nam conspired in the fraud, but Nam denies the allegations of complicity, claiming she did not know the source of the money she received from Jeon.
