Anyang City Strengthens Collection of Overdue 'Local Taxes and Non-Tax Revenues'... Measures Including Account Withdrawal Implemented Anyang City Hall

Anyang City in Gyeonggi Province is operating the '2023 Year-End Local Tax and Non-Tax Revenue Comprehensive Settlement' period until next month to minimize the amount of overdue payments carried over to next year.

Anyang City previously strengthened the issuance of overdue payment notices and payment promotions from the 6th to the 17th of this month to encourage voluntary payment. Additionally, from the 20th of this month until the end of next month, a six-week intensive collection campaign will be conducted.

During the intensive collection period, on-site visits will be increased to conduct searches of residences and business sites of high-amount and habitual defaulters, and various collection activities such as seizure of real estate, vehicles, and financial assets, public disclosure of defaulters' names, and travel bans will be implemented.

However, for defaulters facing economic difficulties such as livelihood-type defaulters, small businesses, and micro-enterprises, conveniences such as installment payment plans, collection deferrals, and enforcement deferrals will be provided.

Meanwhile, Anyang City exceeded its collection target of 12.9 billion KRW from January to October this year.

During this period, 10.1 billion KRW in local taxes (target 9.3 billion KRW) and 3.9 billion KRW in non-tax revenues (target 3.6 billion KRW) were collected, achieving 108% of the collection target, totaling 14 billion KRW.

An Anyang City official stated, "Despite the difficult situation of decreasing revenue, the city's strengthened collection activities resulted in an increase of 1.5 billion KRW compared to the same period last year," adding, "We will continue to strengthen collection efforts against dishonest taxpayers who deliberately evade payment and encourage installment payments and collection deferrals for livelihood-type defaulters to foster a culture of sincere tax payment that aligns with fairness and common sense."
