Gangnam-gu Collaborates with KT

The autonomous delivery robot 'NewBee' is roaming Gangnam Teheran-ro in step with the dawn of the outdoor mobile robot service era. Newbility, an indoor and outdoor autonomous robot service platform, announced on the 17th that starting from the 20th, it will provide robot delivery services around Seolleung Station in cooperation with Gangnam-gu and KT.

Through this demonstration project, Newbility will introduce an integrated solution for robot delivery services, including the camera-based autonomous driving robot 'NewBee' optimized for complex urban environments, the robot operation system 'NewBeGo', and the web-based order delivery platform 'NewBeOrder'. When customers order drinks through the 'NewBeOrder' platform, 'NewBeGo' system directs 'NewBee' to deliver the products to the building the customer ordered from.

With the amendment and enforcement of the 'Intelligent Robot Development and Distribution Promotion Act (Intelligent Robot Act)' on the 17th, expectations for the full-fledged robot delivery era are rising. Since the launch of 'NewBeOrder' alongside operations at Konkuk University Seoul Campus in June, the cumulative number of orders surpassed 1,000 within 100 days, showing a growth rate of over 250% compared to the first month of service. According to a recent survey on the experience of using Newbility's robot delivery service, 95% of respondents agreed on the necessity of robot delivery services, and 78.3% expressed satisfaction with the service.

So far, Newbility has been conducting robot delivery demonstration projects through regulatory sandboxes in Incheon Songdo, Seoul Bangbae-dong, and Konkuk University Seoul Campus, accumulating real data and service capabilities for autonomous delivery robot operations in urban environments. In line with recent deregulation of outdoor mobile robots, the company plans to rapidly expand autonomous driving robot delivery services in urban areas beyond the Gangnam Teheran-ro demonstration.

Lee Sang-min, CEO of Newbility, said, "Newbility has steadily accumulated technical and operational capabilities through long-term demonstration operations to provide robot delivery services optimized for complex urban environments," adding, "This Teheran-ro demonstration will offer a differentiated robot delivery experience and serve as an opportunity to further raise expectations for the outdoor mobile robot era."
