Yongin City Completes Pilot Project for 'Crime Prevention Public Design'

Emergency Bells and Fire Equipment Boxes Installed in Three Areas Within the District

Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 17th that it has recently completed the pilot project of the '2023 Public Design Enhancing Daily Safety' initiative aimed at crime prevention.

This project was carried out as part of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's 'Public Design Enhancing Daily Safety' program. It involves developing and installing standardized designs for crime prevention and daily safety facilities (daily safety design) to help citizens easily seek assistance in emergencies and respond to urgent situations such as fires.

The city finalized the necessary standard designs through preliminary research by fire, police, and crime prevention experts, as well as consultations with the city’s Public Design Committee. With a total budget of 695 million KRW, the city pilot-installed these facilities in three locations: Yurim-dong in Cheoin-gu, Singal-dong in Giheung-gu, and Pungdeokcheon 1-dong in Suji-gu.

Specifically, emergency bells featuring daily safety design were installed at 65 locations, and a standard design guideline for manufacturing, installation, replacement, and management was also established. Additionally, an 'emergency fire extinguisher box' was provided to enable initial fire response in areas difficult for fire trucks to access, and village environments were created to prevent nighttime accidents and crimes with LED guidance signs and smart projectors for safe routes home.

A city official stated, "We will continue to expand facilities applying daily safety design and establish various policies to enhance citizens’ safety and convenience."
