"Elderly Loneliness and Isolation Relief"... Gangbuk-gu Operates 100-Year Health Plus Winter Special Lecture Program

Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) will operate the ‘100-Year Health Plus Winter Special Lecture Program’ for elderly people living alone from December 4 to 8.

The ‘100-Year Health Plus Winter Special Lecture Program’ is a leisure program for elderly people living alone in the area, designed to encourage their social participation, foster relationships, and help alleviate loneliness and isolation.

The program will be held at ‘100-Year Health Plus’ (208 Ohyeon-ro, Gangbuk-gu, Beondong Jugong 3rd Complex Apartment, Building 309, 1st floor). From the 4th to the 7th, the elderly can participate in a ‘Natural Cosmetics Making’ class, where they can make lip balm and moisturizers using plant-based and natural ingredients. On the 8th, they can learn easy and simple sports (new sports) using safe equipment at the ‘2023 Visiting Elderly New Sports Workshop.’

Any elderly person aged 60 or older living in Gangbuk-gu and living alone can participate in the winter special lecture program. Those interested can apply by visiting the Gangbuk-gu 100-Year Health Plus center or by phone by the 30th.

The ‘Natural Cosmetics Making’ class runs for four days, with 15 participants per session (only one session per person), and the ‘2023 Visiting Elderly New Sports Workshop’ accepts up to 20 participants. Each program runs from 9:30 a.m. for about one hour.

Meanwhile, the district has established the 100-Year Health Plus Center within the multi-family welfare housing (Building 309) of Beondong Jugong 3rd Complex Apartment and has been operating various customized leisure programs for local elderly residents since July, including ▲I am also a magician ▲Singing class ▲100-Year Health Gymnastics ▲Ventriloquism and Laughter Festival.

Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, “Through this program, I hope the elderly will build connections with each other and enjoy a lively and warm year-end.” She added, “In line with the era of 100 years, Gangbuk-gu will continue to introduce health and leisure programs for the elderly.”
