Gyeonggi-do to Select Director of Health and Environment Research Institute Through Open Recruitment, Not Internal Appointment Gyeonggi Provincial Government

Gyeonggi Province is publicly recruiting the Director of the Health and Environment Research Institute. This is the first time the Director position is being selected through an open recruitment process rather than an internal appointment.

The Director of the Health and Environment Research Institute oversees the institute's affairs, including testing and research aimed at ▲strengthening food and drug safety ▲establishing diagnostic systems for emerging and legally designated infectious diseases ▲enhancing safety management of agricultural and marine products ▲creating clean air and a safe environment ▲and ensuring clean and healthy water environments. The Director also commands and supervises eight departments and over 250 affiliated public officials.

Applicants must currently be general public officials at grade 3 or 4 (with at least 3 years of service), or research officers (with at least 7 years of service), and have certain experience or achievements in the health or environmental fields. There are no restrictions or disadvantages based on affiliated institution, residence, or gender.

Gyeonggi Province will accept applications from the 27th of this month until the 1st of next month, then select the Director through a first-round document screening and a second-round interview.

Kang Hyun-seok, Director of Personnel at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "With recent experiences of fine dust and COVID-19, public awareness and interest in climate environment and infectious diseases have greatly increased, along with policy demands. Therefore, we are publicly recruiting health and environment experts through an open competition. We hope many capable public officials with expertise, drive, and dedication to the lives and health of residents will apply."

Meanwhile, the Gyeonggi Province Health and Environment Research Institute is a direct agency of Gyeonggi Province established under the ‘Health and Environment Research Institute Act’ to conduct testing, inspection, and research related to environmental health and resident hygiene.
