US Entertainment Media Faces Backlash for Posting Wrong Photo of BTS Jimin's Namesake

A U.S. entertainment media outlet received criticism from fans after posting a photo of BTS member Jimin (real name Park Jimin) alongside news about Park Jimin, a second-generation Korean-French immigrant and actor.

On the 16th (local time), according to AFP, the U.S. media Deadline posted a photo of BTS Jimin on an article and social media posts about the 'Revelations' event, where the French C?sar Academy annually selects and announces 32 emerging actors who have shown outstanding talent.

However, the actor actually included in the list was Park Jimin, who starred in the French film Return to Seoul. A BTS fan pointed out that Deadline accurately described Park Jimin as female in the article but used a photo of the male BTS Jimin.

One social media user commented on Deadline's post, "It only takes one second to search the cast of Return to Seoul on Google," adding, "Especially when you don't know much about the artist you are writing about, you should get into the habit of researching."

Return to Seoul is a film directed by Cambodian-French director Debi Sugar, starring Park Jimin. Park Jimin plays Freddy, who was adopted to France and returns to Korea to find her biological parents.

The film was invited to the 'Un Certain Regard' section at last year's Cannes Film Festival in France. Earlier this year, it was shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film in the United States.
