Bedbugs were discovered in two houses in Daejeon Metropolitan City, prompting quarantine authorities to form a Joint Bedbug Countermeasures Headquarters. This is the first time bedbugs have been found in the Daejeon area.
According to Daejeon City on the 16th, bedbugs were found in two houses in the Seo-gu area of Daejeon on the 10th, leading to emergency pest control and disinfection operations. To prevent the spread of bedbugs, the city established the Joint Bedbug Countermeasures Headquarters and plans to operate a focused inspection and pest control period until the 8th of next month.
The Joint Countermeasures Headquarters is organized into three teams (8 offices/departments), including departments responsible for facilities with high risk of bedbug occurrence such as lodging businesses and dormitories. Each office/department, together with autonomous districts, plans to inspect about 2,800 facilities subject to mandatory disinfection and vulnerable residential facilities for bedding hygiene and signs of bedbugs.
Hygiene management will also be expanded for multi-use facilities frequented by citizens, such as subways and movie theaters.
