Hampyeong Police Holds Traffic Safety Facility Review Committee Meeting

On the 14th, the Hampyeong Police Station in Jeollanam-do announced on the 15th that it held the 2nd Traffic Safety Facility Deliberation Committee meeting of 2023 with local residents at the Communication Maru on the 2nd floor of the police station, attended by about 10 people including the Hampyeong County Office, the road management authority, and the chairman of the Model Drivers Association, a police cooperation organization.


At this second committee meeting of the year, the main agenda items were the removal of the center line, the installation of new crosswalks, and the installation of speed bumps.

The chairpersons of the Model Drivers Association, Green Mothers' Association, and Traffic Safety Guardians, who are police cooperation organizations, attended as ex officio members, along with three general local residents and the head of the Traffic Administration Team of Hampyeong County Office, the road management authority, as committee members to deliberate on the installation of traffic safety facilities suitable for the conditions of the Hampyeong area.


The Hampyeong Police always maintain an open attitude to listen to local residents' opinions regarding the installation of traffic facilities in order to promote traffic policies that allow county residents to feel safe from traffic accidents and to lead the creation of a traffic culture for smooth traffic flow.


In particular, as part of promoting customized pedestrian, two-wheeled vehicle, and elderly (Bo-I-Go) traffic safety policies tailored to the characteristics of rural areas, they are making continuous and active efforts to prevent accidents involving vulnerable road users such as the elderly through outreach promotional activities such as children's traffic safety campaigns during school opening seasons, traffic safety education at senior citizen colleges, and traffic management at local events.


The Hampyeong Police are conducting various activities including education, publicity, and campaigns aimed at preventing traffic accidents involving elderly citizens, reflecting the characteristics of Hampyeong County.


Yoon Chang-gi, Chief of Hampyeong Police Station, stated, “We will strengthen cooperation with existing security partners such as the Model Drivers Association to create an environment where socially vulnerable elderly people can enjoy a safe old age and children, the future dream, can play safely. In addition, we will prepare measures to expand and activate resident participation to gain residents' trust and advance confidently as the police by reviewing various traffic safety policies and promoting active traffic safety activities.”
