Local Creator Performance Sharing Meeting Held

Sharing Experiences, Challenges, and Concerns to Explore Development Plans

On the 15th, Gumi City in Gyeongbuk held a performance-sharing meeting on Geumridan-gil, Gumi's representative alley commercial district, to share this year's achievements of the 'Local Value Entrepreneurs (Local Creators)' being nurtured to strengthen the community's autonomous creative capabilities and to explore development plans.

The city was the first in the province to implement the Local Creator nurturing project, supporting startups and the growth of small business owners utilizing local resources through commercialization funds of up to 25 million KRW. It was established to solve the problem of regional extinction and revitalize the local economy by fostering creative-based small business owners who combine content based on local resources such as culture, tourism, and specialties into local brands.

Local Creators refer to entrepreneurs who create new economic value by combining the region's natural and cultural characteristics with ideas.

At the performance-sharing meeting, about 20 Local Creators discovered by the city participated, sharing how they have grown based on local culture, followed by discussions on policy cooperation directions, difficulties, and concerns.

Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, "Local Creators, who are creative-based entrepreneurs, are active in the recently emerging alley commercial districts, and the region is being revitalized around them. The city is also supporting their growth and cooperation so that they can form alley commercial districts and develop into representative local brands." He added, "Through this performance-sharing meeting, I hope that Local Value Entrepreneurs (Local Creators) will actively operate not only in Geumridan-gil but also in other alley commercial districts, leading the local economy."
