Eastar Jet announced on the 15th that it will implement zone boarding, starting with passengers seated in the rear rows, for all domestic and international routes to minimize in-flight congestion and improve punctuality. Priority boarding will be guided for passengers who need assistance, such as the elderly, pregnant women, and those accompanied by infants or young children, followed by boarding from the rear seating zones by subdividing the cabin space.
All aircraft owned by the company have a single aisle with 189 seats arranged in a total of 32 rows. These 32 rows are divided into Zone 1 (rows 1?11), Zone 2 (rows 12?22), and Zone 3 (rows 23?32), with boarding starting from Zone 3, then Zone 2, and finally Zone 1.
For boarding convenience, real-time parking information is provided through the website and mobile application (app). When issuing tickets online, the mobile boarding pass screen also shows the estimated time required from self-check-in to identity verification, security screening, and boarding.
An Eastar Jet official stated, “Boarding passengers seated in the rear rows first can reduce waiting time caused by stowing carry-on luggage, thereby minimizing in-flight congestion,” adding, “Shortening the time to be seated onboard can prevent delays caused by boarding procedures, so we expect an improvement in punctuality as well.”
