The body of a Hamas militant from the Palestinian armed faction was found with a copy of the autobiography of Adolf Hitler, who once led Nazi Germany.
On the 13th (local time), according to the British BBC broadcast, Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog stated in an interview that "a copy of Hitler's 'Mein Kampf' was found on the body of a Hamas militant in northern Gaza Strip."
The Israeli side found the body and the copy of Hitler's autobiography a few days ago at a location where a child's room in a civilian house was repurposed as a Hamas military operation base, and the book was written in Arabic, President Herzog reported.
President Herzog emphasized that this "shows that some Hamas members repeatedly studied Hitler's ideas, which are filled with hatred toward Jews."
First published in 1925, 'Mein Kampf' contains Hitler's thoughts, including his aversion to Jews and communism, and his claim of the superiority of the German 'Aryan' race.
Meanwhile, President Herzog denied that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), which are at war with Hamas, attacked Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest medical facility in the Palestinian Gaza Strip.
Regarding medical staff claims that the hospital's electricity supply was cut off, he directly refuted, saying, "Hamas is fabricating many stories, but Al-Shifa Hospital has electricity and everything is operating normally."
Concerning criticism that the IDF's offensive is worsening the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Herzog said, "We are operating in strict compliance with international humanitarian law," and added, "We warned residents early on that their homes had become terrorist bases."
Regarding international calls for a ceasefire, he added, "Of course, we listen to our allies, but above all, we must defend ourselves."
