Gwangju City Minimizes Inconvenience for CSAT Examinees on the 16th

Implementation of Special Traffic Measures Including Operation of Integrated Situation Room

Ensuring Smooth Traffic to Test Sites and Preparing for Emergency Transport

Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kang Ki-jung) will implement special transportation measures to ensure that local examinees taking the 2024 College Scholastic Ability Test on the 16th do not experience any inconvenience.

On the 13th, Gwangju City announced that it will operate a comprehensive situation room composed of 19 personnel across 6 locations in cooperation with autonomous districts.

A total of 563 members from 19 organizations and groups, including the police and the Model Drivers Association, will simultaneously participate in traffic management by test site and emergency transportation of examinees.

From 6 a.m. on the day of the CSAT, public officials, traffic police, and Model Drivers Association members will be deployed to minimize traffic congestion and ensure smooth traffic flow on main roads within a 2 km radius of the test sites. Enforcement and guidance against illegal parking within 200 meters of the test sites will also be strengthened.

Additionally, about 70 orderlies will be stationed at 14 city bus terminals and starting points, as well as 7 subway stations near the test sites, to manage timely vehicle operation and provide examinees with necessary information such as directions to test site exits from subway stations and bus stops along the test routes.

In particular, city buses passing by the test sites (38 schools, 43 routes) will have increased frequency before school hours (6:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.), and notices indicating the test sites and bus stops will be posted inside the buses to assist examinees’ smooth transportation.

Examinees with disabilities will be supported for transportation to and from test sites via taxis dedicated to transportation-disadvantaged persons through prior reservations at the Transportation Vulnerable Mobility Support Center. For examinees arriving close to the test start time, if they report via 112, patrol cars waiting nearby will be dispatched for emergency transport to the test site.

On the day of the CSAT, public institutions and other workplaces will start work at 10 a.m., one hour later than usual, and aircraft takeoffs and landings will be prohibited for 25 minutes from 1:10 p.m. to 1:35 p.m., during the listening test period.

Kim Seok-woong, Director of the Transportation Bureau, said, “We will do our best to ensure safe and smooth arrival of examinees at the test sites by managing vehicle traffic,” and added, “We ask for cooperation in refraining from noise such as car horns near the test sites on the day of the CSAT.”
