Gwangju Nam-gu to Conduct Special Inspection for 4 Weeks to Block Bedbugs

On the 13th, Nam-gu stated, "As bedbugs that have recently occurred in some domestic facilities are spreading nationwide, public anxiety is increasing," and added, "We will carry out intensive inspections and pest control activities targeting facilities vulnerable to bedbugs to protect the safety and health of residents."

The inspection targets are 67 public hygiene businesses in the district, including lodging and bathhouse businesses.

From today until December 8, Nam-gu plans to conduct daily inspections and monitoring of these businesses and carry out intensive pest control in facilities where bedbugs have been found.

In particular, they will thoroughly check whether businesses conduct disinfection at least once a month, whether bedding and towels are washed after use in lodging rooms, and whether bathhouse changing room lockers and bath areas are cleaned at least once daily.

Additionally, Nam-gu will distribute bedbug information booklets produced by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency to each business during the special hygiene inspections to ensure rapid pest control measures can be taken in case of bedbug occurrences.

A Nam-gu official said, "To prevent bedbug damage, pest control activities in daily life are necessary," and added, "We will do our best in prevention and management by conducting intensive inspections for four weeks to relieve anxiety about bedbugs."
