Free Access Until the End of This Month

Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 14th that it has established a public parking lot in the densely populated commercial area of Dunjeon-ri, Pogok-eup, Cheoin-gu, which has been experiencing illegal parking and stopping issues due to a lack of parking spaces, and began operation on the 13th.

The newly created parking lot, located at 139-6 Dunjeon-ri, covers a total floor area of 2,145㎡. The city invested a total of 8.6 billion KRW, including 2.2 billion KRW in national funds, starting construction in 2018 and recently completing the project. The parking lot has a total of 82 spaces, with 67 underground and 15 above ground.

The city has designated parking spaces exclusively for the disabled and other transportation-vulnerable groups and received the official certification for ‘Barrier-Free (BF)’ living environment last month. The above-ground area is also equipped with three electric vehicle charging stations and restrooms.

The city plans to offer free parking until the end of this month, then operate the parking lot as a paid facility starting from the 1st of next month with an unmanned parking system.

Mayor Lee said, "We are grateful to the residents for enduring the inconvenience and supporting the opening of the parking lot," adding, "We will continue to make efforts to secure parking spaces in the future."
