The prosecution has launched a forced investigation into the 'Thai Starjet preferential hiring suspicion' involving Seo Mo, the son-in-law of former President Moon Jae-in.

The Criminal Division 3 of Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Lee Seung-hak) sent prosecutors and investigators to the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the Small and Medium Business Corporation (SBC), and the Ministry of Personnel Management on the 13th to secure materials related to the case.

The suspicion of preferential hiring of Seo concerns the case where Seo, who had no experience in the aviation field, was hired as an executive director at Thai Starjet, which was actually owned by former Democratic Party lawmaker Lee Sang-jik in 2018. At that time, Lee was appointed as the chairman of SBC. The prosecution is investigating the suspicion, keeping in mind the possibility that Lee's appointment as chairman and Seo's hiring as executive director may be related.
