Gochang-gun, Yeonggwang-gun, and Jangseong-gun Join Hands for Community Win-Win Development

Three counties?Gochang-gun in Jeonbuk, and Yeonggwang-gun and Jangseong-gun in Jeonnam?have joined hands for the mutual development of their local communities.

According to Gochang-gun on the 13th, a ‘Gochang-Yeonggwang-Jangseong Mutual Development Business Agreement Ceremony’ was held that morning at Sangha Farm in Gochang-gun, attended by Shim Deok-seop, the governor of Gochang-gun, Kang Jong-man, the governor of Yeonggwang-gun, and Kim Han-jong, the governor of Jangseong-gun.

The core of this agreement is that local governments sharing the same living area within 30 minutes will jointly respond to local extinction through ultra-wide cooperation and aim to revitalize the regional economy.

Through this agreement, residents of the three local governments (146,412 people as of the end of October) will receive equal discounts on admission fees at paid tourist attractions and sports facilities managed by each local government starting from January next year.

The main discounted facilities in Gochang-gun include Gochang Eupseong Fortress, Dolmen Museum, Dongho National Leisure Camping Site, Bodadeo Camping Site, Seonunsan National Leisure Camping, Ungok Wetland Youth Hostel, community baseball field, and indoor baseball practice field.

In Yeonggwang-gun, the main discounted facilities are Bulgapsan Sangsa Flower Festival Site, Yeonggwang Chilsan Tower, Yeonggwang Theme Botanical Garden, Yeonggwang Arts Center, and Daema Electric Vehicle Industrial Complex Sports Facilities.

Jangseong-gun’s discounted facilities include Jangseong Lakeside Road, Hong Gil-dong Gymnasium, Work-Life Balance Dome Stadium, indoor swimming pool, and fitness center.

Each local government plans to actively cooperate in the future to promote tourism such as religious pilgrimage and to build transportation networks including railroads and roads.

In particular, synergy effects are expected in the future industry development fields of each local government (drones and advanced logistics center in Gochang, E-mobility and energy in Yeonggwang, data centers and bio in Jangseong).

Governor Shim Deok-seop said, “Gochang, Yeonggwang, and Jangseong, historically and culturally closely connected at the heart of Jeollado for a thousand years, have come together to create greater value,” and added, “Let us achieve results in all fields such as culture, tourism, energy, and social infrastructure through continuous cooperation.”
