Hyein announced on the 13th that it has signed a supply contract worth a total of 43.8 billion KRW with HJ Heavy Industries and Gangnam for Caterpillar engines and reducers. These components are scheduled to be installed as the main propulsion engines in South Korea's latest 3,000-ton class marine police patrol vessels.
The newly constructed 3,000-ton class latest patrol vessels will be equipped with an advanced hybrid propulsion system and feature the latest design. They are expected to carry out missions such as search and rescue from South Korea’s coastal waters to offshore areas. Additionally, they will perform maritime security duties to protect South Korea’s maritime sovereignty in key waters and ensure the safety of fishing vessels.
Through this supply contract, Hyein will provide Caterpillar diesel engines as the main propulsion engines?the heart of the 3,000-ton class patrol vessels, which are regarded as core assets of the marine police, rather than support vessels that previously handled support tasks. Since entering the defense market in earnest in 2014, the company has continuously invested in facilities and technical personnel.
As a result, Hyein has steadily supplied main propulsion engines and generator sets annually to a variety of vessels operated by the South Korean Marine Police and Navy, ranging from the latest patrol vessels to large transport ships, next-generation high-speed boats, multipurpose training support vessels, and rescue support vessels. It has been recognized as a leading power system specialist supplier in the defense sector.
Hyein has solidified its position in the main equipment market of the South Korean Marine Police and Navy by being recognized for its quality and technological capabilities in the defense industry, supplying main propulsion engines for 3,000-ton class vessels and main generators for 1,500-ton class vessels of the Marine Police, as well as main generators for the Navy’s Marado-class ships.
Hyein is the official Korean dealer of Caterpillar, the global number one brand in construction machinery and engine generator sectors.
