Busan City Hosts 'Data-Driven Workation and Digital Transformation Forum'

April 14, 4 PM at Busan Big Data Innovation Center, Combined Work and Vacation 'Workation'

Sharing Data-Driven Digital Transformation and Organic Collaboration Cases, Exploring Utilization Methods

Busan City will hold a forum on "Data-Driven Workation and Digital Transformation" at 4 p.m. on the 14th at the Busan Big Data Innovation Center.

Workation is a compound word of Work and Vacation, referring to a new working method that allows people to work and take a vacation simultaneously at their desired location. Startups are emerging that grow by turning this digital transformation demand into services.

This forum is the 11th event of the "Digital Transformation (DX) Forum," which has been operated by Busan City and Busan Technopark since last year.

The "Digital Transformation (DX) Forum" is held to overcome the poor data industry environment in the region, allowing participants to acquire the latest big data-related technologies and trends directly from top experts in the field without having to go to the metropolitan area, and to explore development directions together with related experts.

The forum consists of one special session and three sessions. Through each session, it will examine the industrial structure related to workation and Busan's current situation using data, introduce cases of startups founded on data-driven workation, and discuss effective ways to utilize digital transformation through organic collaboration.

In the special session, Lee Choong-soo, Director of Zero to One Partners, will present on the topic of "Data Analysis Cases of Alcoholic Beverages and Seafood Processed Foods in the Busan Region." Director Lee is a data analysis consulting expert who uses big data held by public and private sectors to solve pressing business issues. He will introduce cases of alcoholic beverage sales trend analysis and visualization, as well as seafood processed food consumption trend analysis and visualization.

In the first session, Jung Sung-joon, CEO of Mr. Mansion, will present on "Digital Transformation of Mid- to Long-Term Accommodation Platforms and Workation." Mr. Mansion operates a platform for mid- to long-term accommodations and has successfully expanded its business based on long-term stay data of lodging and travelers, which is highly relevant to workation, providing a detailed look at digital transformation cases.

In the second session, Park Hyun-joo, Co-CEO of Office (O-PEACE) Jeju, will give a lecture on "The Journey of Building the Office Jeju Brand Based on Data." Office Jeju is the most active workation company in the Jeju region, accumulating workation data and utilizing it for business expansion through analysis. Having experience in attracting investments from prominent venture capitals (VCs) such as MyRealTrip and Primer, as well as workation-related organizations, this lecture is expected to be especially meaningful.

In the final third session, Choi Ji-baek, CEO of The Wave Company (Pado Salon), will lecture on "Local Content and Workation Seen Through Data." The Wave Company is a workation startup that is steadily growing by implementing workation strategies based on local content from the Gangneung area.

The city expects this forum to contribute to sharing expert knowledge and information with stakeholders in the data and workation industries, related entrepreneurs, and interested citizens, providing opportunities for communication. It aims to explore effective ways to utilize data-driven digital transformation in the workation field and the direction to move forward, further activating organic collaboration.

Anyone interested can apply to participate in the forum through the Busan Big Data Innovation Center website.

Shin Chang-ho, Director of the Digital Economy Innovation Office, stated, "Globally, workation, which combines work and vacation, is becoming a workplace trend, and Busan, rich in tourism resources such as history, culture, arts, and nature, is the optimal place for the workation industry." He added, "We hope this forum will help local companies and startups realize data-driven workation and digital transformation. Our city will continue to do its best to develop the regional data industry by strengthening data-driven management capabilities and expanding its base."
