Dobong-gu (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that the Ministry of Strategy and Finance (KDI) inspection team visited the newly established section of the Ui~Banghak Light Rail Transit on the 10th to conduct an on-site investigation for design appropriateness review.

The design appropriateness review is a process conducted alongside the demand forecast reassessment, which was approved in May, to negotiate the total project cost with the Ministry of Strategy and Finance. During this on-site investigation, the step-by-step design details of the Ui~Banghak Light Rail Transit project were reviewed, and supplementary and improvement points were identified. The feasibility of on-site application, as well as the appropriateness of the budget and facility scale, were also verified.

Going forward, once the total project cost negotiation between Seoul City and the Ministry of Strategy and Finance is completed by the end of November, the basic plan will be approved and announced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport within this year. After passing the central investment review in the first quarter of next year, construction is expected to begin through basic and detailed design or turnkey method procurement.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, stated, “Although many procedures remain before the Ui~Banghak Light Rail Transit construction begins, we will do our best to ensure timely commencement through close consultation and active cooperation with related organizations such as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Seoul City.”
