Geochang-gun Holds Midterm Report Meeting on Theater Arts Complex Development

Feasibility Study and Basic Plan Establishment Service

On the 13th, Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced that it held an interim report meeting for the feasibility study and basic plan establishment service for the creation of the Geochang Theater Arts Complex at the county office situation room, attended by about 20 people including county council members, public officials, theater-related personnel, and Geochang Cultural Foundation officials.

At the interim report meeting, a conceptual plan was proposed regarding the location and scale of the theater arts complex, as well as the facilities within the complex, based on analysis of domestic and international status, cases, and conditions. The project was further specified through opinions and discussions from the attendees.

Geochang-gun is holding a mid-term report meeting on the creation of a complex for theatrical arts.

The service provider suggested the necessary facilities within the theater arts complex divided into three spaces: cultural arts space, regionally specialized space, and tourism stay space. Specifically, ▲the cultural arts space mainly includes performance facilities ▲the regionally specialized space includes theater education and experience rooms, a healing center, offices for resident organizations, and a facility management building ▲the tourism stay space is planned as accommodation and convenience spaces for external visitors.

Gu In-mo, the county governor, stated, “This project is not simply an infrastructure project but a response to the crisis of local extinction,” adding, “We will strive to create infrastructure that combines cultural arts content and tourism to induce artists to settle and increase tourists’ length of stay, thereby producing a synergistic effect of cultural tourism and economic revitalization.”

Meanwhile, Geochang-gun plans to further specify the project contents by reviewing and reflecting opinions gathered at the interim report meeting and consulting experts in the relevant fields. Additionally, the basic plan will incorporate operation plans for the complex infrastructure, with a final report meeting scheduled for January next year.
