CU Launches New Concept 'HEYROO Dining Snack'

CU announced on the 12th that it will introduce two types of HEYROO snacks with the concept of ‘Dining Snack,’ which implements famous overseas dishes as snacks to differentiate its private brand (PB) snacks.

CU's Dining Snacks are a new concept snack that captures the taste of the dishes themselves. To develop differentiated menus not found in existing manufacturer brand (NB) snacks, the scope was expanded to include dishes.

The two Dining Snacks being released this time are ‘Taco Chip Salsa Flavor (1,700 won)’ and ‘Bacon Chip Egg in Hell Flavor (1,800 won).’ The Taco Chip Salsa flavor will be released on the 16th of this month, and the Bacon Chip Egg in Hell flavor will be released on the 7th of next month.

The Taco Chip Salsa flavor is a snack that replicates salsa tacos, a representative Mexican dish, allowing you to enjoy the tangy salsa sauce and mild tortilla flavor with a crispy texture. The Bacon Chip Egg in Hell flavor contains the aroma of bacon, tomato sauce, and various spices in a Mediterranean-style stew incorporated into the snack.

Starting with these products, CU plans to expand the lineup of Dining Snacks inspired by various domestic and international dishes to further strengthen the product competitiveness of HEYROO snacks.

Meanwhile, CU’s PB HEYROO snacks, launched in 2016, surpassed a cumulative sales volume of 250 million units last month, and some items consistently rank in the TOP 10 of CU’s overall snack category sales, establishing a solid position.

Joonhyung Cho, head of the snack food team at BGF Retail, said, “Dining Snacks are a new concept of snacks that have not been seen in convenience stores before, and they can attract the taste buds of trend-sensitive customers. Snacks account for a significant portion of convenience store sales, and CU will continue to enhance product competitiveness through various research.”
