On the afternoon of the 11th, Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, visited the site of the '8th Mapo District Mayor's Cup Dream Tree Baduk Tournament' held at Mapo Central Library to encourage the young Baduk talents.
Hosted by Mapo District and organized by the Mapo District Sports Council, the tournament was attended by about 250 people, including young Baduk players who dream of becoming future Baduk kings, elementary school students, and their parents. The opening ceremony proceeded with Mayor Park Gang-su presenting awards to meritorious individuals and a pledge by the representative player.
As the main competition began, the young Baduk talents carefully placed each move with their small hands, demonstrating skills comparable to professional players.
In his encouragement speech, Mayor Park Gang-su said, "Baduk is a great sport for children as it not only enhances concentration and memory but also cultivates proper manners and character." He added, "I hope all the children will fully demonstrate the skills they have honed so far and do their best regardless of winning or losing, leaving no regrets in the tournament."
