0.8km Section of Road Construction between Gimhae and Sangdong, Sangnim
The 0.8 km section from Sangdong Daegam Intersection to Sangdong Intersection in Sangdong, Gimhae-si, Gyeongnam, will be partially opened from 11 a.m. on the 14th.
Gyeongnam Province announced that it will open some completed sections first among the ‘Gimhae Saengnim~Sangdong Road Construction Project’ sections, which began construction in March 2008 and aim for completion in June 2024.
According to the province, the national-supported local road No. 60 construction project between Saengnim and Sangdong involves a total project cost of 210.6 billion KRW to connect 8.82 km from Najon-ri, Saengnim-myeon, Gimhae to Maeri, Sangdong-myeon.

This section runs from Najon-ri, Saengnim-myeon on National Road No. 58, passing through Gwangjae Interchange (IC) on the Busan Outer Ring Expressway and Sangdong Interchange on the Jungang Expressway, continuing to Maeri, Sangdong-myeon.
This area, which was previously a two-lane road, experienced a sharp increase in traffic volume, narrow roads, and poor alignment, causing traffic congestion and accident risks, resulting in significant inconvenience for residents.
Kim Young-sam, Director of the Transportation and Construction Bureau, said, “We intend to provide benefits to local residents and road users in advance by opening the completed sections first. It will allow faster passage by bypassing the congested sections near Sangdong-myeon Administrative Welfare Center and Geumdong Elementary School during rush hours, and will also help improve pedestrian safety for local residents.”
He added, “When the entire section opens next year, it will not only drastically reduce logistics movement costs within the region but also improve quality of life by shortening travel times through traffic dispersion on the nearby congested Namhae Expressway, Busan Outer Ring Expressway, and National Road No. 14. We will continue to communicate with local residents and strive to create a convenient and safe road environment tailored to the characteristics of the region.”
