This year, 56 peer counselors were selected and trained, and their capabilities as peer counselors were strengthened through advanced education, enabling peer counseling activities at three schools in the district.

Peer counselors are youth counselors who help friends with concerns within schools and the local community and support the community through leadership in peer groups, playing a leading role in preventing youth violence and fostering a culture of empathy and consideration among healthy youth.

Nam, a student who has been active as a peer counselor for two years, said, “I was happy because I could listen to my friends' concerns and help them adapt to school life, and I was able to grow together with them.”

County Governor Oh Do-chang expressed gratitude to the schools participating in the training and education of peer counselors and said, “I hope more schools will participate next year.”

The Yeongyang-gun Youth Counseling Welfare Center offers individual and group counseling and psychological testing for youth and guardians seeking counseling, and inquiries can be made by phone.
