Exports Exceeding 400 Billion Won This Year
There has been an analysis indicating a significant increase in Germany's major arms exports to Israel. According to major foreign media on the 8th, Germany exported more than 300 million euros (approximately 421 billion KRW) worth of weapons and military equipment to Israel this year, a tenfold increase compared to last year. Among these, about 20 million euros worth of lethal weapons were exported, excluding personal protective equipment and medical supplies.
To quickly process Israel's arms export requests, the German federal government reportedly formed a task force consisting of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Office for Economic Export Control.
On the 12th of last month, following Hamas's surprise attack on Israel, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated in the Bundestag, "At this moment, Germany's place is only beside Israel," adding, "Israel's security is Germany's national policy." Chancellor Scholz also said that he told Israel, "Please request any support you need."
Since then, Israel has continued its attacks on the Gaza Strip. Having officially declared urban warfare, Israel announced that it has struck more than 14,000 Hamas targets within the Gaza Strip and destroyed over 100 underground tunnel entrances. Israel is implementing a strategy to divide the Gaza Strip north to south, encircling Gaza City, where Hamas's command and infrastructure are concentrated. Following this, Israel plans to seize military facilities and equipment such as underground tunnels and identify and eliminate key figures.
