According to Asan City on the 9th, a report was received the previous day about bedbugs appearing in a one-room apartment located in Asan.

The Asan Public Health Center analyzed photos taken inside the room by the apartment manager and confirmed the presence of bedbugs.

This is the first time bedbugs have been found in Daejeon, Sejong, and the Chungnam area. It is known that the resident of the one-room apartment has no history of overseas travel.

The city health center stated that insecticides were delivered to the building and pest control measures were ordered.

On the previous day, one suspected bedbug report was also received in Cheonan, but since the reporter discarded the insect and the photo quality was poor, it was not possible to confirm whether it was a bedbug.

Cheonan City formed and began operating a joint countermeasure headquarters led by the head of the Seobuk-gu Health Center to prevent the spread of bedbugs.

To prevent bedbugs, check spaces where bedbugs may hide, such as gaps in beds, mattresses, sofas, and areas where these touch walls in homes or lodging facilities, and avoid placing luggage on the floor as much as possible. If bedbugs are found, physical control methods (steam heat, vacuum cleaners, disinfection of contaminated fabrics) and chemical control methods (insecticides approved by the Ministry of Environment) should be used together.
