Leading Inter-University Joint Project
Serving as a Southeast Region Sharing and Collaboration Hub
The Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Dong-Eui University is breaking down barriers between universities, between universities and companies, and between universities and local communities, establishing a broad network in the southeastern region.
The LINC 3.0 Project Group (Director Lee Im-geon) at Dong-Eui University (President Han Su-hwan) has concretized the promotion of joint programs based on the regional industry-academic cooperation network to spread shared and collaborative projects, stepping into the role of a southeastern shared and collaborative hub.
The Power Semiconductor Talent Development Center, opened on the 4th floor of the Information Engineering Building at Dong-Eui University last November, serves as the integrated control tower for the "Busan Area Power Semiconductor Talent Development Shared University," which is building a platform for cultivating specialized power semiconductor personnel in the region.
In November of last year, Dong-Eui University held the opening ceremony of the Power Semiconductor Talent Development Center (Director Shin Byung-chul), officially setting sail for nurturing talent in power semiconductors.
Last year, 13 universities in the Busan area participated, including Dong-Eui University, Dongmyung University, Dongseo University, Dong-A University, Pukyong National University, Busan National University, Silla University, Korea Maritime and Ocean University, Gyeongnam Information University, Dong-Eui Science University, Dongju University, Busan Institute of Science and Technology, and Busan Women's University, along with Busan Technopark.
This year, four additional universities?Kyungsung University, Busan Catholic University, Busan Gyeongsang University, and Busan University of Foreign Studies?joined, making a total of 17 universities in the Busan area collaborating with Busan Technopark and local small and medium enterprises to jointly cultivate specialized power semiconductor personnel that meet industrial demands.
This year, an educational curriculum consisting of 17 tracks including materials, design, process, and packaging has been organized to provide training for local university students and company employees. So far, education has been conducted in nine tracks: process, packaging, marketing, component design software application, process HSE, equipment technology, application, design, and basics. A total of 226 people have participated in the training to date.

Additionally, Dong-Eui University has established plans to expand internal and external sharing and collaboration, building platforms such as the Convergence Components and Materials ICC, Regenerative Tissue ICC, SW Certification ICC, and the Biohealth Innovation Convergence University platform. These platforms carry out value-oriented shared and collaborative projects including shared equipment operation, R&D execution, technology innovation support, corporate technical issue support, and employee training.
The Convergence Components and Materials ICC focuses on advancing the technology support platform in the convergence components and materials field; the Regenerative Tissue ICC develops and supports research in the regenerative tissue convergence field; and the SW Certification ICC aims to innovate software quality and serve as the GS certification institution in the southeastern region, concentrating on strengthening processes through mutual cooperation with related companies in each field.
Professor Lee Jin-min, who is in charge of ICC-related tasks at Dong-Eui University’s LINC 3.0 Project Group, introduced, “The ICC is promoting unique branding based on building a collaboration system and enhancing functions suitable for securing future growth engines for universities and companies, as a specialized field linked to new industries, leveraging the university’s strengths and infrastructure.”
Alongside this, Dong-Eui University is activating the "Southeastern Bio Belt," jointly established with eight universities in the Busan and Gyeongnam regions, creating strategies to foster the biohealthcare industry by linking and utilizing research achievements, technologies, and human and material resources in the bio field possessed by each university.
Last September, a Southeastern Bio Belt meeting was held in the conference room on the 2nd floor of Dong-Eui University’s main building with working-level staff from each university to share major research fields, achievements, and infrastructure, and to discuss detailed program operation plans such as ICC-related corporate-linked employee training and technical issue consulting.
Moreover, Dong-Eui University is creating sustainable sharing and collaboration models through the Busan-type Shared University, which shares technology, content, and know-how with about ten universities in the Busan area to conduct joint programs, and the MSAC (AI Autonomous Ship Software Analyst Course) jointly operated with three universities nationwide including Korea Maritime and Ocean University, Mokpo National Maritime University, and Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology.
Lee Im-geon, director of Dong-Eui University’s LINC 3.0 Project Group, said, “Through the LINC 3.0 project, we are securing the sustainability of a customized talent development system for new industries and focusing on strengthening corporate support and shared and collaborative platforms to advance the industry-academic-research cooperation brand.”
The director emphasized, “We plan to continuously improve industry-academic-research outcomes through a bottom-up system that measures cooperation results with an independent evaluation model called the DI index and manages and feeds back results through a step-by-step performance management system.”
