A fire broke out at a waste collection and processing company in Yangsan-si, Gyeongnam, prompting firefighters to respond.
According to the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, the fire occurred at a resource recycling facility in Eogok-dong, Yangsan-si, around 1:41 PM on the 9th.
Firefighters who arrived following a report from nearby residents extinguished the main fire around 3:47 PM.
A total of 101 personnel, including firefighters, police officers, wildfire suppression teams, and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) staff, were deployed, along with 33 pieces of equipment such as three helicopters and heavy machinery.
Two buildings and accumulated waste on site were burning due to the fire, but there have been no casualties reported so far.
A fire official stated that because waste is piled up at the scene, it is expected to take a long time to fully extinguish the fire.
The police and fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage once the fire suppression is completed.
