National Pension Fund's Asset Manager Blackstone to Open Liaison Office in Jeonju Early Next Year On the 8th, Kim Tae-hyun, President of the National Pension Service, and Jonathan Gray, President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Blackstone, are having a meeting at the National Pension Service Seoul Southern Regional Office.

Blackstone, the entrusted asset manager of the National Pension Service, will open a liaison office in Jeonju early next year.


According to the National Pension Service on the 9th, Kim Taehyun, Chairman of the National Pension Service, met with Jonathan Gray, President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Blackstone, at the National Pension Service Seoul Southern Regional Headquarters the day before.


During this meeting, Blackstone announced plans to open a liaison office in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, where the National Pension Service headquarters is located, early next year. The Jeonju liaison office will facilitate communication between the National Pension Service and Blackstone and support overall business activities in the domestic market. It will be the second office in Korea following the Korean headquarters in Seoul.


Blackstone is the world's largest alternative investment asset manager with $1 trillion (approximately 1,352 trillion KRW) in assets under management. In the domestic market, it has built a solid portfolio in private equity and real estate sectors. Since the opening of the Seoul office in April last year, the Korean investment team has achieved nearly 50% growth across all sectors.


President Jonathan Gray said, "It is an honor to collaborate more closely with the National Pension Service," adding, "The opening of the Jeonju office is part of Blackstone's efforts to continuously expand its presence and capabilities in Korea." Chairman Kim Taehyun stated, "The opening of the Jeonju office is a meaningful decision that strengthens the nearly 20-year partnership with the National Pension Service and contributes to enhancing regional financial services in Jeonju."
