Woowa Brothers, Obtains International Personal Information Protection Management System Certification

Meeting 49 Standards Including Personal Information Management Procedures and Appropriateness of Collection and Processing

Woowa Brothers has received international certification for its personal information protection management system. Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baedal Minjok (CEO Lee Guk-hwan), announced on the 9th that it has obtained the 'ISO/IEC 27701' certification, an international standard certification for personal information protection management systems.

This certification is an international personal information protection management system standard jointly established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). To obtain this certification, all 8 areas and 49 criteria must be met, including ▲personal information management procedures ▲appropriateness of personal information collection and processing ▲protection of data subject rights ▲service stability.

Through this certification acquisition, Woowa Brothers now holds three certifications related to information security and personal information protection (▲ISMS-P certification ▲ISO/IEC 27001 ▲ISO/IEC 27701). In October 2018, it first obtained the ISO/IEC 27001 certification, an international standard certification for information security management systems (ISMS). Since then, it has steadily enhanced its capabilities in information security and personal information protection, passing the follow-up audit last month to maintain the ISO/IEC 27001 certification, and additionally acquiring the ISO/IEC 27701 certification.

The ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27701 certifications are valid for three years from the date of acquisition, and an annual follow-up audit is conducted to ensure that the management system is continuously well maintained after acquisition.

Previously, in 2016, Woowa Brothers first obtained the 'ISMS' certification for information security management systems, and in April of this year, it additionally acquired the 'ISMS-P' certification for information security and personal information protection management systems.

The ISMS-P certification is a system in which the Korea Internet & Security Agency certifies institutions that meet the certification criteria for a series of measures and activities for information security and personal information protection. This certification is granted to companies that comply with the establishment and operation of information security management systems and step-by-step protection measures for personal information processing.
