Chungnam Province is starting work to reorganize parks, green spaces, and streets within Naepo New City into specialized commercial streets and a central plaza.
On the 9th, Chungnam Province announced that it held the "Naepo New City Urban Planning Reorganization Strategy Establishment Expert Advisory Meeting" to discuss plans for reorganizing Naepo New City.
Earlier, since September, Chungnam Province, together with the Chungnam Research Institute, began preparing an urban planning reorganization strategy to improve small parks, green spaces, and pedestrian routes in Naepo New City.
The advisory meeting was held as an extension of the strategy preparation, with participation from Chungnam provincial government officials, Chungnam Research Institute, and experts in urban planning, landscaping, and scenery. They shared the background and project direction for the reorganization of Naepo New City and held a comprehensive discussion based on their respective opinions.
At the meeting, Chungnam Province predicted that the population of Naepo New City will increase to 50,000 by 2025. The current population is about 35,000, but this projection considers the expected population growth once all residents move into the already completed apartment complexes and the six apartment complexes currently under construction.
Accordingly, Chungnam Province plans to derive urban planning reorganization measures to improve the living conditions of local residents and enhance their quality of life.
The main strategies include creating specialized commercial streets within the central commercial area, improving the central plaza of Naepo, and establishing new walking trails connecting parks and streams. The plan also includes creating symbolic streets linked to the main roads entering Naepo New City.
Chungnam Province intends to review and collect opinions derived from the advisory meeting and prepare the urban planning reorganization plan by next month.
Song Mugyeong, head of the Public Institution Attraction Team at Chungnam Province, said, "The advisory meeting is the first step in redrawing the existing urban plan of Naepo New City and establishing a new urban planning strategy. We will do our best to ensure that the urban planning reorganization serves as a foundation for improving the living environment of local residents and revitalizing the new city."
