Housing Solutions for 5060 with SH Corporation
Seoul Metropolitan Government and Gangwon Province are launching the 'Gold City' project, a Seoul-local win-win housing policy model, to prepare for a super-aged society.
On the 8th, Seoul announced that it will sign a business agreement for Gold City with Gangwon Province at the Gangwon Provincial Government Office.
Attending the event are Oh Se-hoon, Mayor of Seoul; Kim Jin-tae, Governor of Gangwon Province; Park Sang-soo, Mayor of Samcheok; Kim Heon-dong, President of Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH); and Oh Seung-jae, President of Gangwon Development Corporation.
Seoul and Gangwon Province, along with related organizations such as Gangwon Development Corporation and Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation, plan to promote a pilot project for Gold City in areas that combine a pristine natural environment with urban convenience.
The Gold City project, designed to prepare for a super-aged society, is aimed at the 50s and 60s generation who wish to spend their retirement leisurely in provincial cities. It supports affordable housing costs, jobs, housing, and leisure activities. It was established as a measure to revitalize provincial cities facing extinction and to resolve Seoul’s housing problems.
The pilot project site will be developed in areas with a clean natural environment as well as hospitals, universities, and cultural and leisure facilities that provide urban convenience. Related organizations such as Gangwon Development Corporation and Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation will cooperate to carry out the project.
A Seoul city official said, "In response to future changes in population and household structures such as a super-aged society and an increase in single-person households, we plan to continuously develop and expand customized housing supply policies such as Gold City."
Meanwhile, on the same day, Seoul signed a 'Friendship Exchange Business Agreement for Mutual Development' with Gangwon Province. Through this agreement, Seoul and Gangwon will strengthen mutual cooperation in six areas including tourism, economy, design, and direct trade of specialty products.
Specifically, they will promote the activation of the hometown love donation system, boost tourism exchanges, activate direct trade and experience programs for agricultural, fishery, and specialty products, mutually support the hosting of international events, strengthen linkage cooperation between bio and medical industry innovation clusters, and promote exchanges in urban design policies.
Before signing the agreement, Mayor Oh will give a special lecture for about an hour to Gangwon Provincial Government officials on the theme of 'Togetherness · Attractive Special City Seoul,' which is the slogan and future vision of Seoul’s 8th elected administration, introducing Seoul’s policy directions, achievements, and plans.
