Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry "Consumer Benefits Are Significant"
It has been found that the majority of consumers in small and medium-sized cities, where dawn delivery service is not provided due to low population, have a strong willingness to use the dawn delivery service.
Dawn delivery service refers to an online delivery service where orders placed between 10 PM and midnight are delivered by 7 AM the next morning. Currently, dawn delivery is offered only in the Seoul metropolitan area, six major metropolitan cities, and some nearby regions, considering the establishment of dedicated logistics centers and delivery efficiency. Small and medium-sized cities in regions with relatively low population density do not receive the benefits of this service.

The reasons for willingness to use the service were ▲shopping would become more convenient (44.3%) ▲useful in emergencies (34.0%) ▲increased range of options available (15.0%) ▲ability to enjoy a higher standard of living similar to large cities (6.7%), in that order.

Jang Geun-mu, Director of the Distribution and Logistics Promotion Institute at KCCI, said, "In a situation where online shopping is rapidly growing, it is unreasonable for large supermarkets, which are subject to offline regulations such as mandatory closing days, to be restricted even in online operations. Fair competition between online and offline channels should be ensured, and related legislation pending in the National Assembly needs to be passed promptly so that consumers in areas without dawn delivery service can also enjoy various benefits."
