On the 6th, Icheon City announced the '2024 Comprehensive Tap Water Management Plan' based on this content.

Icheon City "Next Year's Tap Water Plan Focuses on 'Stable Supply'"

The city explained that it secured a total of 2.14 billion KRW in provincial funds for nine project sectors next year, including eight locations in the water supply sector and one set in the water supply disaster safety sector. Specifically, these include ▲one local water supply emergency supply network construction project (connecting metropolitan to local) with 700 million KRW ▲five water supply expansion projects in vulnerable areas with 800 million KRW ▲one household water pipe improvement project to eliminate rust water with 500 million KRW ▲one Gyeonggi-do groundwater support project with 40 million KRW ▲one disaster response fire hydrant installation project with 100 million KRW, among others.

Earlier this year, the city invested a budget of 43 billion KRW to promote projects such as the expansion of the Daepo water reservoir, expansion of water supply facilities in vulnerable areas, conversion of village water supply systems, installation of water quality improvement facilities for small-scale water supply facilities, modernization of water meter reading systems, and pilot projects for replacing safe water meters.

The city will first promote the basic and detailed design services for the installation of a dual water intake pipeline to ensure stable water supply in response to population growth. The total service cost is 4.5 billion KRW. The project section covers approximately 25 km from Icheon Water Intake Station (Danhyeon-ri, Yeoju City) to Icheon Water Purification Plant (Sanchon-ri, Icheon City).

As part of the water supply facility stabilization plan, the city will also promote the emergency pipeline connection project between metropolitan and local water supplies. This is to establish an emergency system that can immediately respond to water outages in case of accidents in the water intake pipeline.

In accordance with the Four Major Rivers Project dam operation plan, the city will improve water intake facilities in preparation for lowering the water level of Gangcheonbo Dam below the managed water level. To this end, a budget of 2.6 billion KRW will be invested in feasibility studies for facility improvements at the Icheon Water Purification Plant and securing additional water sources.

The city plans to focus its capabilities on supplying clean water through water quality management. Starting in the first half of next year in the Shindae-ri area of Baeksam-myeon, a total project cost of 1.7 billion KRW will be invested to expand water supply facilities at 12 locations throughout Icheon City, aiming to provide residents with a stable water supply.

Additionally, to reduce the discharge pressure of the aged water intake pipeline at Icheon Water Purification Plant, an intermediate booster station will be installed in the Maam-ri area of Bubal-eup. Furthermore, a project to improve aging facilities of water intake, transmission, and purification from Icheon Water Intake Station to Icheon Water Purification Plant will also be carried out.

Kim Kyung-hee, Mayor of Icheon City, said, "To leap forward as a central city in the metropolitan area, we will expand and improve water supply facilities and strive to provide citizens with cleaner and more stable tap water."
