Bumin Campus International Hall, Open to All Busan Citizens
‘Star Lecturers’ Professors Kim Kyung-il and Kwon Myung-ah Lecture, Professor Park Ji-yong Performance
The College of Humanities at Dong-A University (Dean Jeon Hyo-jeong) will hold the '2023 Open Humanities Concert' on the 27th at 6 PM in the Dawoo Hall of the International Building on the Bumin Campus.
Dong-A University's 'Open Humanities Concert' is an event that has been held since 2014 to promote the humanities and enhance the humanities literacy of Busan citizens by providing lectures and artistic performances. Any interested Busan citizen can attend.
On the day of the concert, hosted by alumnus announcer Hwang Beom from KNN, high-quality lectures will be given by Professor Kim Kyung-il of the Department of Psychology at Ajou University and Professor Kwon Myung-ah of the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Dong-A University. Professor Kim will lecture on the topic "Protecting Myself with Thought," and Professor Kwon will speak on "The Future You Imagine is Here: Research on Nonhuman Studies and Gender Affect Beyond Humans."
Between the two lectures, a performance titled "Shall We Surrender Our Bodies to the Rhythm of Jazz?" by Professor Park Ji-yong of the Department of Music at Dong-A University is scheduled, offering attendees a unique cultural experience.
Professor Kim, currently serving at Ajou University's Department of Psychology, has previously held positions such as Director of the Central Psychological Autopsy Center and currently serves as Chairman of the Game Culture Foundation.
He is also one of the star lecturers actively participating in broadcasting activities on tvN's "Unexpected Adult," "I Read Books for You," "Alssulbeomjap," and KBS's "Inside TV." His publications include "Wisdom of the Mind," "Kim Kyung-il's Wise Human Life," "The Mind of Others," "A Proper Life," and "It's Not That You Lack Creativity, You Just Can't Bring It Out."
Professor Kwon established the "Gender·Affect Research Institute" at Dong-A University, combining affect and gender research methods to attempt a paradigm shift in the humanities regarding subjects such as the self and body, life and death, illness, disability, minorities, and posthumanism. She explores and researches social and cultural agendas surrounding "connection" and "dependency."
Professor Kwon has conducted the "Humanities and Social Science Research Institute Support Project" funded by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea and was selected among the "Top 50 Excellent Achievements in Academic and Research Support Projects by the Ministry of Education in 2022."
