A man armed with a firearm drove a car carrying a child and stormed into Hamburg International Airport in Germany, local foreign media reported on the 4th (local time).
According to reports, the German Federal Police stated that the man drove a car and broke through the security gate around 8 p.m. that day, fired his gun twice into the air, and threw Molotov cocktails. Afterwards, he moved to the apron in front of the terminal, and it was reported that no one was injured during the incident.
The police identified that a 4-year-old child was in the vehicle with him, explaining that the child's father forcibly took the child from the mother amid a custody dispute, which led to this incident.
The police judged that the child was taken hostage and deployed a large number of personnel to Hamburg Airport, surrounding the vehicle and attempting to communicate with the man through psychological experts.
Meanwhile, the relevant authorities evacuated all passengers inside the airport to prevent any possible harm and completely suspended aircraft takeoffs and landings. A spokesperson for Hamburg Airport said that the operations of 27 flights have been affected so far.
