Upia Co., Ltd. (CEOs: Lee Hyung-woo, Lee Seung-gon) announced that its "Mobjet Modular Shelf System" won the Silver Award (Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award - Special Design Award for Single-Person Households) in the Product Design (Furniture Design) category of the "2023 Good Design (GD) Product Award," hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP).
The Mobjet product is a modular shelving system that allows various configurations through combinations of shelves and posts. It is designed for easy assembly by anyone, offering the advantage of customizing one’s personal space in one’s own style.
The Upia Design Lab explained, "We designed the furniture, which was once just a part of the space, as an active product that can be creatively styled in new ways. It allows individuals to decorate their own space with various configuration combinations tailored to their tastes and freely expand or separate the furniture according to changes in the living environment."
They also explained, "Using detachable screens makes it possible to divide a single space into various spaces conveniently."
The shelves of the Mobjet product are manufactured using a wood powder coating method, which is not commonly used in the domestic furniture market. This eco-friendly process produces no VOCs (volatile organic compounds) or formaldehyde emissions, which are common in painted products. Additionally, it boasts excellent abrasion resistance, waterproofing, and heat resistance, thereby extending the product’s lifespan.
The Mobjet series currently offers shelves, posts, and screens as initial products, and plans to continuously develop and launch various modular components such as storage units (doors, drawers) to enable diverse configurations.
The award-winning designs are being exhibited at the "DESIGN KOREA 2023" event held at COEX from November 1 to November 5, where visitors can view and experience Upia’s products.
Meanwhile, Upia announced that following the "Mobjet Modular Shelf System" winning the Good Design (GD) Product Award, it will hold a discount promotion event on its official online store until November 19, offering up to 25% off and interest-free installment plans.
