"Share Health! Enjoy Happiness!"
Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, held the ‘2023 Goryeong-gun Integrated Health Promotion Project and Healthy Village Creation Project Performance Conference’ on the 2nd at 2 p.m. at the Daegaya Cultural Nuri Ureuk Hall, with about 500 local residents gathered.
Goryeong-gun held a performance contest for the Integrated Health Promotion Project and the Healthy Village Development Project.
The ‘Community Integrated Health Promotion Project’ is a program operated by the public health center to promote the health of local residents by integrating 12 health projects (smoking cessation, alcohol moderation, exercise, nutrition, obesity, oral health, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, atopy, dementia, home healthcare, rehabilitation, maternal and child health, etc.) without boundaries between individual projects, and operating them integrally by individual, living area, and population group. The ‘Healthy Village Creation Project’ is a resident-led project in which residents directly participate to resolve health inequalities. Ugok-myeon started in 2014, and Dasan-myeon began in 2019, currently in their 8th and 3rd years respectively (excluding 2020?2021 due to COVID-19).
The event began with a gymnastics performance by the ‘Healthy Heart Silver Gymnastics Team’ and a pre-performance of Korean traditional percussion music by children from the local ‘Haebaragi Daycare Center.’ Through a video showcasing the projects carried out throughout the year, the achievements of the Integrated Health Promotion Project and Healthy Village Creation Project were shared. The first part of the event concluded with education to raise residents’ awareness by Professor Kim Jong-yeon of Kyungpook National University College of Medicine, who serves as an advisory professor for the Dasan-myeon Healthy Village Creation Project.
In the second part of the event, residents from seven villages (two in Ugok-myeon and five in Dasan-myeon) presented performances demonstrating the skills they honed through resident-proposed health programs, receiving enthusiastic applause.
Additionally, side events such as the ‘Healthy Village Creation Project Photo Exhibition,’ ‘Healthy Village Creation Project Quiz!’, and ‘Pretty Dementia Shelter Art Exhibition’ were held to increase residents’ interest and understanding of the Integrated Health Promotion Project.
County Governor Lee Nam-chul expressed, “I commend the public health center officials who worked hard throughout the year to promote residents’ health, and next year, we will strive to make Goryeong residents healthier and happier.”
Seong Hyun-deok, chairman of the Dasan-myeon Health Committee, said, “Through the efforts and participation of residents over the past year, we were able to reflect on the purpose and meaning of the Healthy Village Creation Project. Moving forward, we will do our best to develop and operate resident participation programs utilizing various private-linked resources so that the resident-led Healthy Village Creation Project can be well established and Dasan-myeon’s healthy village can grow one step further.”
