Gyeonggi-do Icheon City announced on the 2nd that the 'Icheon Senior Club,' a dedicated organization for senior job creation, won the Minister of Health and Welfare Award, the highest honor, in the '2022 Senior Job and Social Activity Support Project' evaluation.
The Icheon Senior Club is the entrusted operator of the senior job project in Icheon City. The city added that with this award, the Icheon Senior Club has been selected as an excellent institution nationwide for three consecutive years.
The city explained that the Icheon Senior Club was highly evaluated for contributing to the creation of new senior jobs every year through public interest activities such as 'Bus Stop Keeper, Green Light,' social service types like 'Dream Starter, Linked with Local Children's Centers,' and market-type businesses such as 'Cafe Irum, Cafe Bongbong.'
Kim Kyung-hee, mayor of Icheon City, said, "We will actively support at the city level to improve the welfare of the elderly in Icheon and enhance their self-esteem."
Meanwhile, the Icheon Senior Club plans to open 'Cafe Bongbong,' the 5th senior cafe, in the urban regeneration project area of the lower village of Seolbong Park.
