30s Man Who Kidnapped and Assaulted Girlfriend... Prosecution's Arrest Warrant Denied

The prosecution dismissed the arrest warrant requested by the police for Mr. A, a man in his 30s accused of kidnapping and assaulting his girlfriend.

The Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office announced on the 1st that it dismissed Mr. A's arrest warrant, who is charged with kidnapping, confinement, special intimidation, and special assault, stating, "After reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and other evidence, there was insufficient proof that the suspect forcibly put the victim into a car, confined her, or committed assault or other acts of violence."

Mr. A is accused of forcibly putting his girlfriend, who was at his home, into a car and assaulting her with an umbrella on the 29th of last month. While continuing to assault and threaten her after getting out of the car, he was arrested on the spot by police who responded to a report. The police applied for an arrest warrant on the 30th, but Mr. A was released due to the prosecution's dismissal of the warrant.
