Korea Import Association Discusses Trade Expansion Cooperation with Tanzania

Request for Cooperation from Tanzanian Companies at Next Year's Korea Import Expo

The Korea Importers Association announced on the morning of the 1st that it met with Omar Said Shaban, Minister of Trade of Tanzania, at the association's reception room in Bangbae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, to discuss cooperation measures for expanding trade between the two countries.

According to the Korea Importers Association, Minister Shaban stated, "Tanzania is currently benchmarking South Korea's economic development model to promote its own development," and added, "We have benefited from cooperation in various fields such as industry and infrastructure, and we hope that trade with South Korea will continue to expand."


Minister Shaban further said, "We hope that the ongoing discussions on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with South Korea will lead to further expansion of trade between the two countries," and "We expect the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Korea Importers Association to actively cooperate to facilitate more active exchanges between companies of both countries."


In response, Kim Byung-kwan, Chairman of the Korea Importers Association, emphasized, "We are well aware that Tanzania is the safest country in Africa and has a very suitable environment for business," and added, "Trade volume between South Korea and Tanzania is steadily increasing, and we will strive to build a mutually beneficial trade relationship through active exchange and cooperation in the future."


Additionally, Chairman Kim requested Minister Shaban to actively support the participation of many Tanzanian companies in the Korea Import Fair to be held in July next year.
