October 31, Dongjak-gu Holds Introduction Ceremony with Ministry of Environment and Seoul City... Waste Transport Starting November
Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Il-ha) held an inauguration ceremony for the world's first hydrogen electric cleaning vehicle and began operation on the same day to achieve carbon neutrality.
This is part of a climate change response policy aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the transportation sector by replacing old diesel cleaning vehicles with eco-friendly hydrogen electric vehicles.
The inauguration ceremony was held on the 31st of last month in the district office parking lot, where the features of the eco-friendly hydrogen electric arm roll cleaning vehicle were introduced, and demonstrations of loading box detachment and operation were conducted.
The Dongjak-gu hydrogen electric arm roll cleaning vehicle is a world-first special-purpose cargo vehicle capable of waste collection and transportation, unlike existing hydrogen passenger cars, buses, or general cargo trucks.
It has a maximum load capacity of 10 tons and can travel 400 km on a single charge.
The district received full project funding of 920 million KRW from the Ministry of Environment and Seoul City last year to officially introduce this special-purpose vehicle powered by hydrogen fuel.
As this is the first case, there were difficulties in the purchase and introduction process due to the lack of existing contract precedents, but the district made great efforts to introduce the hydrogen electric cleaning vehicle, including pursuing direct contracts.
The Dongjak-gu hydrogen electric arm roll cleaning vehicle emits only pure water without pollutants during operation, which is expected to contribute to air quality improvement and the realization of carbon neutrality.
Park Il-ha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, stated, “The hydrogen cleaning vehicle, introduced for the first time in the world, will be a signal fire for achieving carbon neutrality in the transportation sector,” adding, “We will continue to expand the supply of hydrogen vehicles and related infrastructure to create an eco-friendly green city.”
